The Sound of Silence

The pen is mightier than the sword, they say, but sometimes silence is even mightier:

Oppressive silence

Comfortable/companiable silence

Silent treatment

Library silence

Peaceful silence

Pregnant pauses

Awkward silence

Unspeakable

"..."

Dead air

Silent soothing

Censored

Gagged

Reverent silence

Shocked silence

The Christo-fascist element pervading the US right now has many women scared to death. I am scared, not for myself, but for my daughters and everyone else's daughters. When you don't have a voice, you have nothing.

At the end of this post is a picture of what, to me, is the most horrifying scene from The Handmaid's Tale TV series, even more than the rapes, the punitive clitoridectomy, or the amputation as punishment for a woman reading. The protagonist threw up after she saw it.

Timothy 2:12:

“But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”

(Sensitive viewers may not want to scroll down)

Talk about unspeakable.
